Autobiographical Introduction of Du Xunhu
Du Xunhu, male, was born in Hengyang, Hunan in 1964.
In 1981, during the last semester of high school, I suddenly lost interest in studying and missed the college entrance examination by three points.
In 1982, after retaking the exam, I barely got into the Biological Science program at the Hengyang Branch of Hunan Agricultural College. I spent three years in college, failing two subjects, and only passed them after retaking the exams and pleading with my teachers.
In 1986, I began learning experiments under the guidance of the renowned Chinese nuclear chemistry expert, my mentor, Mr. Shu Zhaohan. It was then that I gradually regained the joy of studying. Now, through consultation with a doctor, I understand that the sudden loss of interest in studying in the last semester of high school was actually a form of depression. Master Shu taught me hand by hand how to design experiments, how to collect data, how to analyze experimental data, and how to draw conclusions. This was indeed an enlightenment.
In 1990, while studying in the overseas program at Suzhou University, I was selected by Hong Kong's Precision Electronics Limited and joined the company with a salary 26 times higher than before.
In 1992, my boss, who was then a member of the Hong Kong Strategy Development Committee, an alumnus of MIT, and a global expert in the field of liquid crystal displays, Dr.York Liao , told me that if we wanted to ensure the invincible position of Precision Electronics, we had only two paths: one was to enter the automotive display field, and the other was to develop TFT, both of which were extremely difficult. Obviously, the latter was even more challenging than climbing to the sky. You should know that at that time, Sharp from Japan spent as much as 700 million US dollars a year just on research and development. Helpless, we had to choose the automotive display, which was actually about choosing a niche market and cultivating it deeply.
There are endless topics and grand plans for company development to discuss with Dr. York Liao.
In 1993, our LCD production line added a process called "hardcoat," which aimed to coat the ITO glass to prevent sodium ions (Na+) from the glass from entering the liquid crystal of the cell, thereby disrupting the arrangement of the liquid crystal and causing the display to fail. The short lifespan of early LCDs was due to this issue. This hardcoat material was nano silicon dioxide, which is the earliest nano material I have ever seen. Since then, nanomaterials have become inextricably linked with me and have been a lifelong companion.
In 1994, Comrade Xie Fei, who was then a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Secretary of the Guangdong Provincial Committee, visited our laboratory. He spoke to me with great excitement and profound insight, saying, "Young man, work hard, you have a promising future." However, history took a different turn, and Comrade Xie Fei, who was expected to enter the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, ended up at the National People's Congress.
This photo was taken by my company.
This photograph was taken by the professional photographer, Mr. Huang Yukun. Comparing it with a screenshot from an old newspaper, it can be noticed that the photos taken by our company were centered around Mr. Xie, while Mr. Huang's photo was centered around Mr. Du Xunhu. Does he not understand the rules? No, it's not the case. This was a deliberate arrangement by Mr. Xie. From this small detail, one can see that Mr. Xie's respect for knowledge and talent is not just superficial.
In 1997, Dr. Charles K. Kao, a director of the company(Varitronix Ltd. ) ,the 2009 Nobel Prize winner in Physics, and known as the 'Father of Fiber Optics,' told me that one should choose projects that have not yet appeared in the world, or at least projects that have not yet been undertaken in China for research. The influence of Professor Kao on my life has been crucial, to the extent that even my way of thinking bears the imprint of Professor Kao.
Du Xunhu took a photo with Professor Charles K. Kao, the former director of the company (Varitronix Limited), known as the 'Father of Fiber Optics' and the 2009 Nobel Prize laureate, after the board meeting.
In 2000, my superior, TK Chan, the then President of Compaq in China (which was the largest computer company in the world at the time), taught me how to establish procedures and use rules as a professional manager to reclaim the power that rightfully belongs to you from the boss. Although the boss may not be pleased, especially those who hold a small number of shares but have real power. Otherwise, you will become a puppet or a high-level secretary, and if that happens, your career will be irreparably damaged.
In 2001, we dethroned the global leader in automotive displays, Japan's OPTRIX.
In 2002, we drove out PHILIPS from the market and became the new hegemon in the global automotive display market, still holding over 80% of the market share worldwide to this day.
In 2002, my superior and friend, Craig, the former Chief Operating and Marketing Expert of THOMAS GROUP (the third-largest consulting firm in the world), taught me how to balance work and life, and how to enjoy life.
In 2005, Dr. Chen Lin, a former colleague from the nuclear engineering department, took me to the Shenzhen Walmart headquarters to discuss a construction project. It was my first encounter with concrete sealants. I found out that this product was not available in China at the time, but it was already widespread in the world. Although at this time, Huawei was building a factory in Dongguan and had commissioned a headhunting company in Beijing to find me, offering an irresistible huge salary and benefits, I still resolutely started the business with Dr. Chen. To this day, I still believe that the decision was completely correct. However, due to a lack of understanding of marketing and packaging, what could have made us very wealthy only brought us a modest living, just like a three-year-old child holding a piece of gold, although in the end, we were fortunate to keep it. Although we pioneered the concrete sealant industry in China, and the employees and partners who followed us made money and became wealthy, we ultimately missed the window of opportunity for development and growth, and missed the once-in-a-lifetime chance to become extremely wealthy.
In 2007, Mr. Du Xunhu began to collaborate with Walmart's engineering department to research the issue of concrete cracking.
In 2014, Walmart's engineering department lost confidence in the research on concrete cracking and despairingly withdrew from this research. However, we persevered, enduring continuous setbacks, failures, struggles, and despair.
In 2014, the concept of super-nano technology was proposed, which was met with skepticism, ridicule, denigration, insults, and suppression from peers. At the same time, the application for a patent on ultra-nano technology was mercilessly rejected by a group of mediocre examiners. We could only sigh in despair but felt powerless to change the situation.
In 2015, amidst the ruins of these failures, the SNT cement decoration and micro-cement product system was established. This is how we came to have our current micro-cement and cement mortar products, including wall materials and floor materials.
In 2016, the concept of all-cement decoration was innovatively proposed for the first time.
In 2017, the concept of luxury cement products was creatively introduced.
In 2018, the construction of the SNT Space Art Experience Center began. The entire experience center, including the walls, floors, ceilings, and bathrooms, was entirely made using our self-developed micro-cement and cement mortar. Even the paintings were completed using micro-cement and cement mortar for the first time, globally realizing the concept of all-cement decoration.
In 2018, research on nano anti-seepage and anti-pollution agents began.
In 2019, the concepts of all-cement decoration and luxury cement products were simultaneously realized in the same project. This is the Six-Star Starry Sky Hotel series, where the entire project's floors, walls, ceilings, bathrooms, and furniture were all completed using SNT micro-cement and cement mortar. Please refer to the attachments and videos at the end of the page.
In 2020, the construction of the Sky City on the Cliff, with an investment of 1.5 billion, began. This project is even more radical, with the exterior and interior walls, floors, swimming pools, hot spring pools, bathtubs, and more, all completed using SNT micro-cement and cement mortar.
In 2021, the nano anti-seepage and anti-pollution agent was finally developed and completed, with excellent performance. It possesses oil-repellent, stain-resistant, and dirt-resistant properties, completely compensating for the inherent dirt and stain susceptibility of cement.
In 2024, we developed the world's first color floor wax, which is a global innovation and also the first to bring color floor wax to the market. This color floor wax is highly useful and can create a market in conjunction with micro-cement.
In 2024, after a decade of dormancy, the ultra-nano technology achieved a major breakthrough and creatively proposed the concept of universal modification. It realized the modification of polyurethane, epoxy resins, and other paint products, allowing these oily products to no longer rely on hardeners such as TDI, MDI, HDI, etc. It accomplished the feat of completely replacing hardeners like TDI, MDI, HDI and solvents such as benzene, toluene, xylene, etc., with ultra-nano inorganic materials.
So far, the entrepreneurial process of entrepreneurs is almost the same, from 0 to 1, and then from 1 to N. However, SNT adopts the traditional method of our ancestors, taking one more step, from nothing to something, drawing inferences about other cases from one fact, and from one to many, that is, from 0 to 1, from 1 to 3, and from 3 to N.
Now the opportunity has come to us once again. Will we let the opportunity slip away from us again?
